Our recent visit to Nasio was a truly transformational experience for both our students and staff at Greyfriars Catholic School. From the moment we arrived in Musanda, we were struck by the warmth of the welcome and the strength of the community. It is a place where relationships matter deeply, and where people take time for one another in a way that is both humbling and inspiring.
What stood out most was the impact of Nasio’s work. Whether through its schools, medical provision or wider community programmes, it is clear that the charity is making a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of children and families. Seeing this first-hand brought to life the power of long-term, values-driven work rooted in dignity and respect.
For our students, the experience was about far more than what they could give. It was about what they learned. They worked alongside families to carry water, support basic healthcare and build homes, contributing to the construction of two houses during our visit. They attended lessons in local schools and connected with young people whose determination and work ethic left a strong impression.
Perhaps most importantly, they developed a deeper understanding of service. They saw that leadership is not about status, but about contribution—about working with others, showing compassion and doing what is right even when it is challenging.
The visit also gave our students a powerful sense of perspective. While many families live without running water or electricity, there is a deep sense of joy, resilience and care within the community. It was a reminder that happiness is not defined by what we have, but by the relationships we build and the way we support one another.
We leave incredibly grateful for the experience and full of admiration for the work of the Nasio team. The impact of this visit will stay with us for a long time, and we very much hope this is the beginning of a lasting partnership.
